Serving

“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.” - Romans 12

We believe that Jesus is the image of the invisible God and that the church is called to reflect him. As such we are called to love and serve the world and to be the hand and feet of God in Yeovil, the nation and the world. We believe that we can only do this through the empowering of the Holy Spirit and together with God’s people. We believe that we are called to love actively, to serve in the face of oppression, poverty, injustice and brokenness. We believe this is the heart of God as revealed through scripture and as disciples of Jesus we choose to love unconditionally.

Urban Warriors are passionate about serving God by loving young people. We have been working in partnership with seven of the local primary and secondary schools for years. Our schools work is varied from assemblies, to teaching, to lesson support, to helping children with learning or behavioural difficulties. We love using creativity to inspire young people in their own creativity so we run dance, media and music workshops for young people of all ages. We run clubs across town, varying in intentions and atmospheres. We run some clubs primarily to give young people in that area somewhere to hang out and meet positive role models in us. Some clubs are based at our main church building with an evangelistic thrust and over a hundred kids in attendance each week. Some clubs are aimed at discipling young people who have already committed to following God, and as a part of this Urban Warriors are involved in mentoring young people in one on one relationship.

Ultimately our whole serving vision is based on relationship. We have our own relationships with God but we desire to focus on building our relationships with young people and children so we can have a transforming impact on their lives.
